This is a call to all parents, Cub and Scouts for help assisting the Wargrave Runners stage the new Wargrave 5 mile event, which takes place on Sunday 9th June 2019.
1st Wargrave Scout Group has volunteered again to staff what this year is only one water station – situated approximately half way round the new 5 mile (approx. 8km) course, at The Horns Pub at Crazies Hill. Please note there will no longer be a water station at the East gate to Wargrave Manor.
The race starts at 10am so we will need folks from 9.45am at The Horns for a safety briefing and setting up. The need for water by the participant runners should be over before 11.00am.
Usually this event is well supported by Cubs and I know they like a good water fight – generally the traditional end to the event involvement – however as this clashes with the end of Cub/Beaver Camp, it’s likely that this event is only applicable to those cubs not going to Summer Camp. This means that Scouts we are relying on you to help staff the buckets for this important event!
Please let me know by email (GSL@Wargravescouts.org) with the numbers of volunteers that can spare the Sunday morning, all your help is much appreciated – parents not running are more than welcome to help too.
