Scouts Summer Term Programme Issued

We had a busy and exciting Spring Term which culminated in 1st Wargrave Scouts jointly winning the Loddon District Big Camp Challenge at Dorneywood, congratulations!!  This means we are currently in joint first place in the hotly contested 2015/16 “Murray Plate”!

For this Summer Term, we plan to make maximum use of the outdoors – weather permitting! Scouting in Wargrave is flourishing (see Nige’s AGM Scout Section Report), and we recently welcomed a number of Cubs who joined the section. This means that we started the term with a record 28 Scouts including 2 girls. We also now have 4 leaders (Nige, Richard, Pete W and Paul).  Long may this upward trend in numbers continue!!

The Summer Term 2015 programme also provides a glimpse of activities we are planning for the Autumn Term, and these include the Family Activity Day (with Scout Camp) in September, plus the Great Breakfast Chase and Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) events in October.

We offer a variety of challenging and different activities, so as well as the usual favorites – Evening Hikes, Wide Games in Bowsey Woods, One Stick Cooking and Navigation, we will be trying out some new things – including making Camp Gadgets and a visit to the Fitness Trail in Twyford.

For our “Troop Night Out” we return to  Longridge Activity Centre in Marlow for an evenings Dragoon Boating on the Thames, which was very enjoyable (and also very wet) last year!!

Our Summer Term finishes on the 13th July with the traditional Scout Summer BBQ.  This is when the Leaders cook for the Scouts: “…Sausages, Onions” anyone..?
