Youlbury Scout Campsite near Oxford hosted over 75 members of the Scout Group on Saturday 28th September. The day, organised by our Scout leader, Nige, offered a wide range of activities to all ages. Sons and mums, daughters and dads tried archery, climbing, ‘the leap of faith’, crate stacking, 3G swing and much more. Games of rounders and cricket filled in the gaps whilst Giant Jenga and Sumo wrestling was also there to keep idle minds busy. The day was rounded off with a superb barbeque (which followed bacon butties on arrival and a ploughmans lunch). Thanks are especially due to Lorraine and Stuart Baker who were confined to the kitchen tents for most of the day so that we could all enjoy a meal or a snack at each break in the activities. Nige said ‘We ran this after a number of requests from parents who enjoyed a similar event last year. I think it will become a feature of our programme every other year. In 2014 we are planning a Family Camp, probably in early May’. Keep an eye on the website calendar for dates.
