Beavers (boys and girls usually aged between 6 and 8 years old) are the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people are able to join Beavers in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. However, due to the large number of youngsters looking to become Beavers within Wargrave, sometimes we can’t accommodate them until they are 6 ½ or older.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beavers enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They meet together once a week in a Beaver Colony.
Like Cubs and Scouts, Beavers earn badges as they progress, but the main emphasis for Beavers follows the Beaver motto; “Fun and Friends”.
We always have vacancies for Beaver leaders. We need your help to achieve this – if you are a parent that has a child that is due to join Beavers, or is already at Beavers, please visit the Leadership Opportunities page.
*** WE HAVE A WAITING LIST FOR BEAVERS – Currently 32 children long ***We advise parents to place their boys and girls on our Beavers waiting list from when they are 5 years old. Please note If you are able to volunteer to become a regular Beaver Leader, your son or daughter will be able to join straight away. The challenge we have at 1st Wargrave is not enough leaders. UK Scouting have a required Leader/Beaver ratio’s.
To find out more about your son or daughter joining Beavers, or to add them to the Beavers waiting list, please email the leaders at: beavers@wargravescouts.org
