We’re Having a Birthday Party

It is unbelievable but the Lumberjacks Beaver Scout Colony will celebrate its 25th birthday on Wednesday 30th April.

This will also be a milestone for the three leaders who amongst them have given 75 years continuous service to Beaver Scouting in Wargrave. In trying to determine how many young people have enjoyed the endless fun whilst in the Lumberjack Beaver Colony we have estimated that about 250 Beaver Scouts have been part of the colony down the years. Beaver Scouts is open to young people aged 6 to 8, both boys and girls, and we have had a waiting list of excited young people since the day we opened.

When a Beaver Scout tells you, “Beavers is the best night of the week,” you know you must be doing something right.

The Beaver programme ranges in activities from Pond Dipping at Bix Nature Reserve to Spooky Walks around Wargrave in the dark winter evenings. Flour Trails through Bowsey Woods in the summer and you cannot forget the Water Bomb fights up the ‘rec. But the endless fun enjoyed in the hut on Wednesday evenings is not to be missed. There is always something different to do.

The 25 years will be celebrated up in the Scout Hut on Wednesday 30th April with a party just after Beavers finishes at 18:45. There will be juice and a special birthday cake for the young people to enjoy and wine and nibbles for the adults. Family members will be invited to stay on and enjoy the Fun and Friendship that Beaver Scouting encourages.

Invitations are going out to Past Leaders and Past Beavers. If you are a past Leader, a past Lumberjack Beaver Scout, or a friend of Beaver Scouting in Wargrave take this as your invitation to attend on the 30th April.
